Karelin has a fairly standard figure for her race. She stands at seven feet tall as measured from ground to the top of her head, though her horns add a bit more to that height. She has digitigrade legs, each ending in a draconic paw. Her hands from the elbows down and her legs from the knee down are scaled. Her fingers are each tipped with a dull claw rather than nails. A pair of long curved horns sprout from her forehead/temple area, sweeping back in a majestic curve. Karelin's ears posses a distinct point. She has a long scaled tail, with a silky fall of fur the same colour as her hair from 3/4 of the way to the tip.
Tri are a unique third gender within her species. Tri posses the primary sexual characteristics of both the other genders, with secondary sexual characteristics corresponding to what most humanoid species consider to be female. As Tri, her secondary characteristics are not as pronounced as in fully female member of her kind and she has a figure which would be best described as willowy, with a slim torso and long limbs.

While some Tri prefer to use masculine pronouns when speaking in galactic standard, Karelin follows the common tendency to use feminine ones to describe herself. She is extremely curious about other cultures, particularly the way they interpret gender roles, and the wealth of different cultures among the humans has enough to learn to keep her interested for centuries.
The aging process among other sentient species is another thing which fascinates her. Her own race reach a maturity level equivalent to a teenager in just a few short standard years, but then their growth slows significantly, until they reach the point of young adulthood at around 50, after which the aging process essentially stops. Culturally they are not considered to be truly adults until around 80.
History:
The legends of Karelin's people say that they were born of dragons who shed their scales to cure a great illness which swept through their kind. In truth they are a last ditch effort by a highly advanced civilization to preserve at least some of their genome for the future in the face of extinction through rapid population loss and infertility. Many of the females of their kind had died and many of those who remained were barren. The forefathers of her people used their knowledge of genetic engineering to create within their humanoid children a third gender, so that any illness which targeted only one would not become the same extinction level event as the illness which had claimed them.
Karelin is the child of a tri sire and female mother, the eldest of their several children. She was raised to join the priesthood, as is traditional in many families for a first born child.
